There’s nothing prettier then shiny alloy Record components. I bought these new back in 1998 for the Rhygin Metax road frame I had made that same year. I recently sent them off to Branford Bike to get the indexing converted to 10 speed. After they had a look at my levers Branford’s Rodd Wagner sent me an email with a little background info on my brifters:
“Did you know you have a pretty rare set of levers? These were part of a small batch made just after Campy converted from the pointed levers to the round hood in 1998. The thing that makes them unique is the internals are still the old parts from the pointed levers!”
Rodd sent along the old parts along with my updated levers in the event they ever become collectors items. With a Record short cage 10 speed rear replacing my old Racing triple 9 speed derailleur and new springs and 10 speed indexing these classic levers should perform as good as they look.
If you need Campagnolo service or are looking for a Campagnolo Pro shop that really knows Campy stuff both vintage and modern inside out check out Branford Bike.
